Matrix Packaging Machinery, powered by ProMach, showcases at the International Cheese Technology Expo, April 12-14, in Milwaukee, the Morpheus high speed vertical form fill seal machine with new sanitary features specifically designed for the cheese and dairy industry – stainless steel construction for long service life in harsh wash-down environments. A rollstock pouch making machine and a stickpack machine, both highly productive, low operating cost solutions, are also on display. (Matrix Booth 749)
The Morpheus continuous motion form fill seal machine is rated at up to 180 bags per minute and features new automatic setup capabilities that reduce changeover time and lead to higher productivity. The Morpheus offers a small footprint to conserve floor space, PC-based architecture with the latest servo motion control for exacting operation, and ProTech by ProMach™ the low cost remote tech support and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) monitoring service.
“With the Morpheus cheese packaging, cheese makers and packers now have a vertical form fill seal solution that can help them become more productive and profitable,” said Marc Wilden, Vice President and General Manager, Matrix. “Our other solutions displayed at the booth offer equally important productivity benefits.”
FLtecnics horizontal form fill seal pouch machines
A new option for 1.4 and 1.7 FLtecnics horizontal form fill seal pouch machines is the capability to form top or corner spout pouches from the same applicator. (The 1.7 unit will be on display at the Matrix booth.) The new option delivers significant savings to in-house packaging operations and co-packers because one flexible machine can package so many different items in various pouches: liquid or dry products packaged in zippered, top or corner spout, flat, stand up, and/or shaped pouches. Many different pouch sizes are available for the 1.4 and 1.7 with volume 34-55 fluid oz. (1000-1650 cc), width 3.3-6.7 in. (85-170 mm), and length 3.9-11.8 in. (100-300 mm). These machines utilize one piece spouts with child choke-proof caps. The series is available in an ultra-clean configuration desired by the cheese and dairy industry.
Automatic format changeover and easy adjustment systems reduce the time required to switch from one style of pouch to another by up to 50 percent as compared to other form fill seal pouch machines. These walking beam machines are servo driven for high accuracy and low maintenance. The FLtecnics machines have a smaller footprint than comparable units to conserve valuable floor space.
Inever ultra-clean stickpack packaging systems
Inever is one of the world’s leading stickpack and sachet packaging machine suppliers. Matrix represents and supports Inever products in North America.
During the Inever ultra-clean packaging process, film passes through a particle aspiration procedure in which ionized air removes the static attraction of particles, keeping the film cleaner. The film then passes through a UV lamp for sterilization. The entire machine is pressurized to resist ingress by outside contaminants and is available with clean in place capabilities. Both the PH600 and PH800 models (the PH800 will be at the show) can sterilize food by heating it to above 275º F (135º C). This ultra-high temperature processing is commonly used in milk and cheese production, but the process can also be used for fruit juices, cream, soy milk, yogurt, wine, soups, honey, and stews. These machines have up to seven lanes and produce up to 350 packages per minute.
